Renewing Rent Regulations (and Tenant Protections)

New York's rent regulations expire in June and tenant advocates are counting on the new Democratic majority in the Senate to strengthen the laws in their favor, while landlords push back. New York State Senator Brian Kavanagh, (D,WF 26th) chairman of Committee on Housing, Construction and Community Development, and Assembly Member Walter T. Mosley (District 57), talk about the proposals under consideration in Albany.

"We want to bring a level of stabilization that’s universal," says @WalterTMosley on new bill. "We have tenants of all status, who are fearful of being evicted… for the fact that they don’t have the level of protection that is being sought out by rent regulated apartment units."
