The Heysel Stadium Disaster


The European Cup Final on 29 May 1985 was supposed to be a celebration of football – a contest between two of Europe’s best teams - Liverpool and Juventus. But before kick-off a group of Liverpool supporters charged a section holding Juventus fans. ***Some listeners may find parts of the programme disturbing*** Thirty-nine fans were crushed and trampled to death in the panic that followed.
