There are some businesses that rely on people buying up as much merchandise as possible during the holiday season. They say that they would not be able to survive if they don't commercialize Christmas. Some stores open their doors on Thanksgiving day in order to get ahead of other stores who may give their employees the day off to spend with their families. Some time ago there were people complaining about others saying "Merry Christmas" so there was a push to say "Happy Holidays" instead, so as not to offend anyone. But, the REAL reason for Christmas is CHRIST who came into this world to sacrifice His life to pay for our sin. It's not about spending more than you can afford then spend the next year paying the bill and finding yourself in a vicious circle from year to year. There are also some who are depressed during this time of year. Let's try to be observant and look out for them this year.
