The Governor’s State of the State Address and Education Reform in 2011: Two Perspectives

Governor Chris Christie has called 2011 “The Year of Education Reform,” and in Tuesday’s State of the State Address stressed that changes to the state’s public education system will be a high priority. Exactly what will this mean for New Jersey’s public schools? And on which issues—tenure and seniority reform, school choice, funding, changes in collective bargaining—will he and the Legislature reach agreement? Join host Ray Pinney as he discusses Education Reform 2011 with Michael Vrancik, NJSBA director of governmental relations, and Ginger Gold-Schnitzer, director of government relations for the NJEA. Expect to hear contrasting viewpoints, insight and informed perspective from the advocates for local school boards and school employees.
