A new hope against Malaria?


Malawi is spearheading the launch of a new anti-Malaria vaccine which has proved effective on protecting almost 40% of 5-to-17-months-old children. The vaccination campaign starts today and it involves four separate shots to be delivered over two years, as Dr Felicitas Zawaira from the Family and Reproductive Health Cluster at the WHO Africa in Congo Brazavillie explains. This raises concerns that people could drop out from the vaccination scheme, so how will health professionals guarantee the efficacy of the treatment? Uganda received two new jets from Canada in the hope to revive national carrier Uganda Airlines. The debt stricken national carrier collapsed nearly twenty years ago, but could it work now? We hear from financial analyst Aly Khan Satchu. In Sudan, tension between protesters and the army is high as dissidents have remained on the street of the capital Khartoum to demand a return to civilian rule. This is despite an order on Monday to dismantle the demonstrators' barricades outside the army's headquarters.
