episode 20: 020 - Smarter Than The Average Beer

It’s episode 20 of Tales Of The Unattested and this time our not-so-super heroes debate whether older actors are refusing to move aside to let the younger ones through these days, our opinions on David Lynch’s exhibition in Manchester, Stranger Things 3 and whole host of other stuff. Plus a post credits scene discussing the meaning of “Hit Me Baby One More Time” by Brittany Spears. All the hot button topics. Please contribute your own thoughts to the discussion by emailing unattestedpod@gmail.com or using the simple form on the website, you know you want to

Things we reference this time:

      • Our heroes have been a little tardy with the podcast lately, due to the monumental effort involved in running Liverpool MakeFest 2019. The event went brilliantly but takes up a lot of time to organise. We’re back on schedule now.
      • Dan watched Rocketman and cried a lot, but this probably isn’t a reflection on the film. It’s really good. Watch it.
      • The amazing Devil costume from Rocketman

      • Dan and Caz both watched the new 2019 Shaft film from Netflix. It’s confusing because there are loads of different films now called Shaft.
      • Dan rewatched Spiderman: Homecoming in preparation for the new film. It’s on Netflix in the UK right now.
      • Dan mentions this story about how Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t know she was in Spiderman.
      • Caz went to the David Lynch exhibition which just opened at the Manchester International Festival. She compared it to walking around in the head of JTHM, which is probably a compliment. She also watched a screening of the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
      • Both our heroes watched the HBO mini -series Chernobyl and enjoyed it but aren’t sure all the hype is justified.
      • We also had an email about the many inaccuracies in Chernobyl from DontDrinkTheCoolantAid who links us to this Forbes article that points out many of the incorrect facts.
      • Caz and Dan watched the dirtiest and most bizarre puppet film ever. The Happytime Murders it’s an R rated Muppet film and actually very enjoyable but not one for the kids.
      • Legion is back for a final season, and it makes less sense than ever.
      • Final Space is back for season 2 and brilliant as ever, highly recommended.
      • Both our heroes watched Stranger Things 3. SPOILERS AHEAD, so you’ve been warned. Skip this 10mins if you haven’t seen the series and want to watch it fresh.
      • Talk turns to classic computers and games, including: Jet Set Willy, Horace Goes Skiing, Elite, Monkey Island.
      • Dan is currently reading Spiderman & Deadpool volume 1 and enjoying it a lot.
      • Spiderman & Deadpool in the Spider-Mobile AKA the Dead-Buggy

      • Dan tries to explain the head scratcher that is Spiderman’s car to Caz. Why would Spiderman have a car?? It makes no sense but he did at one time. The Spider-Mobile.
      • We had an email from DeepFakesForGood who sent us this amazing video (see below), and asks whether this is the future of deep fakes, using them to make people speak the truth when they don’t want to.

  • Right that’s your lot, so as we say in Liverpool… do one will ya! But before you do please remember to send us your thoughts, feelings, complaints, confessions or anything else to unattestedpod@gmail.com or use the anonymous form on the website. Now get out of our shop! ….and please come again ;-)
