episode 137: Ullrich 1999 | Kilometre 0

In this episode of Kilometre 0 Daniel Friebe looks back at the 1999 Vuelta a Espana.

It was the first year the Vuelta race leader wore a gold jersey, the peloton tackled the severe slopes of the Angliru for the first time, the late Jose Maria Jimenez and Frank Vandenbroucke lit up the race with their flawed brilliance.

And this was Jan Ullrich’s second Grand Tour victory of his career after a difficult two years following his Tour de France win in 1997.

Who would have thought it would be his last...?

Kilometre 0 is supported by Hansgrohe showers and taps.
