Synchrony: Margaret Keane


Margaret Keane is CEO of Synchrony. Prior to that role, she led the Retail Card platform as president and CEO beginning in 2004 and then expanded her responsibilities in 2011 to become president and CEO of their North American Retail Finance business. Through those years, she developed the leadership skills needed to manage a successful organization that has now become a Fortune 200 company five years post-separation. She was able to infuse a mindset of inclusion and innovation into 16,500+ employees which has driven an incredibly diverse culture for all employees to be their authentic selves. Margaret continues to transform Synchrony, positioning the company for long-term growth by focusing on innovation and technology. Margaret led the integration of the company’s strategic imperatives focused on accelerating growth and diversification, directing her management team to oversee areas including business strategy, venture investments and M&A, enterprise data analytics, customer experience, and expansion of the company’s direct to consumer banking and products strategy. Her passion for emerging technology has been a trademark of her 38-year career, as she fully embraces the need to integrate business and technology strategies – understanding that the two must co-exist. Margaret pushes Synchrony to be nimbler and move faster than ever.
