We are blessed in America to worship Christ together in peace, with the protections of religious liberty. The freedom to worship that we enjoy is not the norm, however, in terms of church history or for our fellow Christians around the world today. The persecution the church in Smyrna experienced is actually more common, and from Christ’s letter to them we learn how we can remain true to Him when our time of testing comes.
