La Jolla Symphony has not performed Brahms’ mighty Third Symphony, considered one of his most lyrical works, in a quarter of a century. The Symphony also premiered two commissioned works: a new piece by emerging Iranian composer Anahita Abbasi entitled "why the trees were murmuring," and Michael Pisaro’s "Umbra & Penumbra," featuring percussionist Greg Stuart.
