"The Soul Shack" w/ DJ-J-ME

With a new mix on www.podomatic.com/soulshack each month , DJ-J-ME started "The Soul Shack" in November 2005 on Soulstream Networks as a way to share with the world his take on 'good' music...made with soul. From soulful & classic house to nu disco & chillwave to neo-soul & nu-jazz to rn'b to old school, funk and 'real' hip hop, it's all fair game on "The Soul Shack". Each month, depending on Jamie's mood you may hear any or all of the above music - sometimes a mixed bag of 'all things soulful', sometimes just a particular theme or genre...but always soulful! With Soul Shack parties having occurred in Toronto, New York, Miami & LA, the brand (and DJ-J-ME) continues to grow and gain new fans. Check this podcast for the latest Soul Shack mixes. (Archived Soul Shack mixes are available at www.mixcloud.com/soulshack) About DJ-J-ME: In demand, Toronto based dj who has played everything from 2,000 person Fortune 500 corporate events to Toronto rooftop hotspots like Kost & Lavelle to a decade of TIFF events in Yorkville for various celebrities, as well as gigs in NYC, LA, Chicago & Miami (where he enjoyed a monthly winter residency before Covid hit)...

The Soul Shack (Apr 2020) aka "90's (isolating in the) house mix"

This is special. I was supposed to be djing a "grads of the 90's" reunion dance in May for my old high school, but it was obviously cancelled. I thought about recording a short 90's mix with a bit of everything...but that idea morphed into this 90's house mix. Putting this together was beyond nostalgic. I didn't realize the significance of this time period. In 1990 I was in gr 10, by 2000 I got married. In the decade between I started going to all ages clubs (NRG in Burlington) then turned 19 & started going to clubs in Toronto (like Whiskey Saigon, Club Max & Oz), I started djing & record collecting & then by the end of the decade I went from the more "club" house making up most of this mix, to the more soulful stuff (& going to Roxy Blu). These 80 songs all are significant to me - I would love to know which ones are significant for you.

Also, I know I get a ton of downloads on Podomatic (to the point where I reach my bandwidth limit within days of resetting it, and can't upload a new mix until it resets again) but I have no idea who any of you are. I would really love it if you took a second to follow me on Instagram @ https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_me

Also, there's new Soul Shack merch if anyone's interested, hit me up jamiewichartz @ yahoo . ca
