On the 8th November in the Australian Embassy in Berlin, exactly 79 years after the anti-Jewish Nazi led pogrom in Germany and Austria, known as Kristalnacht, Alfred Turner the grandson of Aboriginal leader William Cooper, handed a representative of the German Government a copy of the protest letter against the pogrom, from the Australian Aboriginal League that his eminent grandfather tried to deliver to the German Embassy in Melbourne in 1938. - The roof representative organizations of Australian Jews welcomed the nearly 62% majority Yes vote in the postal survey on Same Sex Marriage and urged the Australian Government to quickly enact laws to that effect, but at the same time Jewish leaders acknowledged the rights of religious bodies and schools to be able to continue with their traditional beliefs, ceremonies and teachings on marriage between a man and a woman.
