Wisconsin governor declares a state of emergency and increases National Guard presence following protests over the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Jacob Blake's mother calls for calm amid protests. 

Blake family attorney demands answers and accountability from police. There has been no explanation given from the police for the shooting and two Wisconsin officers have been put on leave. The justice department and FBI are investigating the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake family lawyer says that Blake suffered bullet through his spinal cord and has holes in his stomach. The RNC first night speakers attempt to rewrite Trump's record on coronavirus and race as an attempt to paint Biden as a danger to the country. 

Rep. Castro opens an investigation into the Pompeo RNC speech. 

Trump is to make multiple appearances in the second night of the RNC. Speakers for the second night of the RNC include the first lady, the secretary of state and Eric and Tiffany Trump. The first lady's chief of staff says, "I can tell you that every word in this speech is from her."
