episode 170: Daniel Mongrain (Voivod)

A conversation about COVID- 19, his craft beer journey, the soundtrack to his youth, Voivod's influence, the 90s Montreal Metal Scene, mourning Martyr, his time with Cryptopsy, filling in with respect, Voivod's Hypercube Session & his hangover cure. Throughout this interview Daniel was drinking Brouwerij de Molen's "Bommen & Granaten Barleywine". This English style Barley Wine was sweet, boozy & bold . It clocked in with a 10% ABV. & Matt was drinking Nickel Brook Brewing Co.'s "Uncertainty Principle No. 6". This Wine Barrel-Aged Fruited Blended Sour with red currants & tart cherries was simply divine. It was tart, complex, slightly sweet & super smooth. It clocked in with a 7% ABV. This is the first Heavy Montreal presents Vox&Hops episode! Heavy Montreal is Montreal's premier metal promoter. They host one of North America's best Metal Festivals & present countless amazing events during the rest of the year. I am truly honored & extremely excited to have them involved in the podcast. Massive shoutout & deep thanks to JF-Michaud, the Vox&Hops Alumni, for making this a reality.
