Democrats Become 'New Yorkers' in Latest Rallies

The Democrats have officially brought their campaigns to our backyard!

Andrea Bernstein, senior editor for Politics & Policy for WNYC News who was at Hillary Clinton's rally in Harlem, and Brigid Bergin, the City Hall and politics reporter for WNYC who was at Bernie Sanders' rally in the South Bronx, tell us what happened.

Andrea said Clinton's crowd seemed overwhelmingly positive in Harlem, but Clinton had a harder time in her now hometown of Westchester, where a few people protested and walked out during her speech.

Brigid noted (and many listeners called in to reiterate) that Sanders crowd in Mott Haven was very diverse.

Perla from West Orange, NJ comments on our site: "It felt like I was back at Bonnaroo, but even more diverse."

Great question from Kathleen on @BrianLehrer Where was the Bern before??? Why now? For real. He's an opportunist to-why'd he leave NY?

@BrianLehrer Why now? Occupy Wall Street happened! I'd wager that the OWS vote is 80-20 for Sanders.
