Después del merecido día de descanso, todo el pelotón se puse de nuevo en marcha sin ningún infectado por COVID. La séptima etapa fue muy disputada con una escapada exitosa y bonita victoria en solitario de Michael “Rusty” Woods. La octava etapa con su durísima llegada en el inédito puerto de Moncalvillo nos enseñó que Primož Roglič sigue estando a su mejor nivel, descolgando al líder Richard Carapaz en los últimos 500 metros de la subida y así ganando la etapa y recuperando tiempo muy valioso en la clasificación general.
