The purpose of the podcast is to provide insight, advice, news, encouragement, discussions of latest trends in higher education and more to faculty working in media, communication and journalism departments in higher education. Dr. Whittle holds his Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi. He holds a Master of Arts and Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis on broadcast journalism from Valdosta State University. Scott James Matheson is the current mayor of Valdosta, Georgia, and the owner of Smalltown Broadcasting, a radio company that owns multiple radio stations in South Georgia and North Florida. Mayor Matheson joined Chad to discuss how he got started in radio and how he worked his way up to a radio station owner. He also discusses how he balances his duties as mayor of Valdosta and his responsibilities at his radio stations. Finally, he explains why he still finds small town radio challenging after decades in the Valdosta market.
