Anja Schüler is talking to Manisha Sinha, Draper Chair in American History at the University of Connecticut. Her most recent book, The Slave's Cause: A History of Abolition won the 2017 Frederick Douglass Book Prize. Manisha Sinha has spoken several times at the HCA, most notably at the inauguration of the James W.C. Pennington Award, which pays tribute to a former slave who in 1849 received an honorary doctorate from the University of Heidelberg.
