For this episode, we spoke with Ken Toko, who is serving as US Consul General in Leipzig since August 2020.
Ken studied East Asian Studies at Columbia University and also holds a Master’s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Before joining the State Department in 2003, he worked for Sony in Tokyo. As a diplomat, Ken served in Shanghai, Taiwan, Tokyo, and Kyiv. Most recently, he worked in the US Department of State’s Office of Western European Affairs.
In the interview, we spoke about Ken’s work and the present and future of the US mission in Mitteldeutschland as well as his motivations for becoming a career diplomat and his favorite places in the US.
