This is Dr. Sirish Nelivigi, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Surgeon at Nelivigi Eye Hospital, Bellandur in Bangalore.

In today's podcast episode I would like to discuss about "World Glaucoma Awareness Week".

World Glaucoma Awareness Week will be celebrated from 8 to 14 March, 2020. The main objective of this week is to eliminate glaucoma blindness by motivating people to have regular eye checkups, including optic nerve examination.

Glaucoma is a disease of the eye in which the nerves in the eye responsible for the vision are damaged causing gradual loss of vision. The vision loss can occur without any prior signs and symptoms.
