episode 39: Stage 6 | Cassino to San Giovanni Rotondo | Giro d’Italia 2019

The Giro d’Italia headed to San Giovanni Rotondo, one of Italy’s most important religious centres, and stage six of the race gave the host nation its first stage victory and pink jersey of 2019.
Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe recap another long day in the saddle for the bunch, and welcome the sight of some sunshine after yesterday’s cold rain.
Gianni Savio’s star rider Fausto Masnada won the stage, beating Valerio Conte at the finish, although Conti had the significant consolation of taking the race lead from Primoz Roglic. We speculate on how long Conti might keep the jersey now, plus wrap up all the day’s talking points.
