episode 33: The Safety Struggle: Rick Riley - Safety Director, Mentor, Veteran


Rick Riley is a 10 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and currently the Safety Director for a pharmaceutical company that is partnered with several companies working on variants of fast track COVID vaccines.

Rick talks with Dr. Linda Martin about the importance of mentoring, and the accurate assessment of skills and experience that help safety professionals transition from military service to a successful private sector safety career. Rick also talks about the skills he learned in the military working on the Fukushima earthquake/tsunami disaster while stationed in Tokyo, Japan, and the experiences that have bound him to his fellow service men and women.

Rick is a PhD student at Capitol Technology University in Laurel, Maryland.
