episode 24: Digital Marketing Unplugged - Radio Show Interview (in Marathi)

In this episode, we have invited Makarand Utpat, a marketing strategist well-versed in social media platforms, website building and building a solid brand for the business owners, in general. Makarand is best selling author and has been featured in notable media outlets. His journey has been an inspirational. Today, Makarand shares his radio interview where conversation happens in "Marathi" regional language (his mother tongue). Our apologies for English listeners - please note that rest of episodes are in English (except this one). He gets into his journey that is full of setbacks and trials and tribulations. Enjoy!

Career Tragedy and Regrets

[04:20]

Makarand’s job got affected as he was transitioning to corporate America.

[05:31]

It was hard to sustain your job unless you have a connection to the top executive positions despite your credibility, work ethics, and performance.

[05:48]

Makarand led a marketing group for a pharmaceutical company. He worked with big companies like IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Roche, etc. Due to the global pandemic, he lost his job despite his contributions.

[07:10]

He realized that he has zero Google footprints, and it would be a hard time for him to compete with others for a job.

[09:06]

Makarand wished that he should have done something when he was young. But since time is against him, he cannot do anything. For him, even though there is not a guarantee for success, it would be an optimistic approach to move forward in life.

Career Trigger Points

[12:15]

Makarand was looking for his next trigger key. The key that would help him succeed in corporate America. For him, success is not guaranteed and you need to keep fighting for it.

Distribution of Responsibility in Facebook Pages

[48:56]

You can distribute different levels of authority by:

  • Admin – the highest level of authority
  • Editor – level after the admin
  • Publisher and Moderator for lower level.

Social Media for Children

[50:01]

Makarand recommends using YouTube since it is more on video publishing than Facebook and Instagram. You never know the people who spam request to your child with bad intentions, which you need to watch out for.

Digital Marketing in Senior Generation’s Perspective

[53:34]

According to Makarand, the seniors can take a breath since shopping online is more secure through PayPal. You can always complain if there are any suspicious transactions; therefore, you will be safer if you ever decided to shop on eBay, Shopify, or Amazon.

Closing

[55:25]

Makarand's heartfelt advice is to be conscious about where and how much time you spend on social media daily. You should be disciplined and don't spend more than 15 minutes consuming social media. If you are spending every 5 minutes, then that is basically a full distraction.
