In this episode, we have Makarand Utpat, a leadership trainer, a management trainer, a team-building trainer. He’s a bestselling author and works with a series of nonprofits throughout the country to dramatically improve their operations and fundraising.

What specifically does he do to achieve these increased businesses and nonprofit results?

Today, digital has become a true disruptor and enabler as well. With the influx of various technologies that are coming, mobile technology is a variable. Social media, multi-channel marketing, and the internet of things have changed how we live, work, and interact with each other. Many companies feel disrupted by this whole set of changes coming, and Makarand helped them from feeling disrupted to being a disruptor.

Why did Makarand choose this as his mission or the central focus of his activities?

Digital, while it is becoming an enabler, also helps us prioritize our day-to-day lives, building blocks in the company’s workplace, and whatnot. What excites Makarand is when he sees the smile on the C-level executive’s face when he delivers the deliverables on time within budget. He wants to help for-profits and nonprofit businesses achieve their true digital potential.

What makes Makarand’s business unique and different from any other company in this industry

What sets him unique compared to the other peers is his focus is on delivering results. So one idea is a proven concept, and then he pragmatically implements them. That allows Makarand to create better value and directly connect with the businesses and the C-level executives. He’s at his best when businesses are at their worst in a way. Last is he consider himself a consumer leader.

An example of a company or organization that Makaranda made a dramatic change in its business

In one of his latest projects, he worked with a pharma company. Today, one of the critical challenges all across the board that pharma companies face is when sales reps knock on the doctor’s doors, doctors don’t have time. As a result, pharma companies cannot deliver the message and cannot positively influence physicians. So Makarand was able to spearhead and champion multiple digital initiatives that came in introducing new channels.

They could harness about 15 to 20% effectiveness and productivity for a $10 billion-plus company.

In the case of a nonprofit, one example is he could incorporate social media campaigns and digital marketing campaigns, and he was able to skyrocket the Facebook likes for that nonprofit that was hovering around a hundred or 200. And then, with the social media campaigns, Makarand was able to skyrocket to 11,000 plus.
