This week Tom & Zeus discuss the September 18, 1983 MTV KISS Unmasking, where KISS showed their face to the public for the first time without makeup live on MTV. After the disappointing album sales and tour for the previous album, Creatures Of The Night, KISS decided now was the "right time" to actually take off the makeup. Although founding members, Ace Frehley (The Spaceman) and Peter Criss (The Catman) were gone, the public was still fascinated to see who exactly was behind the KISS makeup. The new members, Vinnie Vincent (The Ankh Warrior) and Eric Carr (The Fox) along with founding members, Paul Stanley (The Starchild) and Gene Simmons (The Demon) were introduced and then interviewed live by now legendary MTV original VJ, J.J. Jackson. The band then premiered their new video for Lick It Up from their new album, Lick It Up.
Tom & Zeus discuss the event and its impact on KISStory in typical SIOL style. They then compare it and rank it against the previous three other television KISS appearances that they have reviewed so far.
