episode 10: S01:10 Spotlight on: Shakespeare‘s Birthday Special


Today Gavin celebrates William Shakespeare’s birthday by talking to Alice Emery, Darcy Willison, Fred Thomas and Hamish Somers about Shakespeare, why they think his plays last, and dish about Macbeth 2020.

Lazarus Associate Artist and current leader of the 60 second challenge, tied with Ricky Dukes, Alice Emery played Lady Macbeth in our 2020 production of Macbeth and Fluellen in our 2015 all-female production of Henry V. Alice has also played Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Rosalind in As You Like it.

Darcy Willison trained at Fourth Monkey Actor Training where she played the role of Friar Laurence in Romeo & Juliet. Her Lazarus Debut was in our 2019 revival of Lord of the Flies as Roger and joined the company of Macbeth to play the roles of Lady Macduff, Angus, Murderer and Seyton.

Fred Thomas trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. His Lazarus debut was in our 2020 production of Macbeth playing Malcolm and Apparition. He has also played Snout & Mustardseed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Ferdinand in The Tempest.

Hamish Somers hails from the land of Macbeth and trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. His Lazarus Debut was in our 2020 production of Macbeth playing the roles of Lennox, the bloody Captain, and as a Weird Sister.
