episode 2124: #21-24: Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates the day (June 19, 1865) when Union General Gordon Grainger announced General Order No.3 proclaiming freedom from slavery in Texas. Celebrations of the date happened at the time, but eventually took a back seat to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. With the advent of Black Lives Matter, new emphasis has been placed on the holiday … and we’ll be celebrating this week as well.
We'll share music from Reggie Harris, Eric Bibb, Robert Finley, Our Native Daughters, Sweet Honey in the Rock and many more. It’s Juneteenth ...
this week on The Sing Out! Radio Magazine.
