(Song)

Story: Mama didn't watch football. When football was on, she'd say, " I don't want to watch no football. Let's watch a movie. Football will be on all day."

Mama was a working woman, and on the weekend, she would watch old westerns and all sorts of movies. But she began to fall asleep tired from working sometimes on nightshift, and one night I heard loud cheering from the television. I peeped from my bedroom door down the hall. I could see mama in the dinning room laying down in the chair. I thought, "Something is wrong if mama's watching football."

Me: Mama! What are you doing! I know you don't watch football!
Mama: Hmm! No I don't, but this is a good game.

Mama had a smile on her face. It was the Packers against the 49ers. The 49ers had won that night. Mama smiled again. Mama knew what was good whenever she saw it. She knew a whole lot of things. Mama knew that she'd one day leave me and my brother. I use to worry that she would, but because mama was a fighter, and because she was always winning, I didn't expect her to leave right away. And because she didn't watch football, I'll never forget how she watched the 49ers play. .......
