episode 54: A Conversation with Democratic Candidate for New York City Council Felicia Singh

Felicia Singh joins the show to discuss her historic run as the Democratic Candidate for New York City Council. If elected, she would be the first South Asian woman to ever hold a position on the City Council. Felicia is an educator, community advocate, and servant leader running to represent District 32 on the New York City Council. A lifelong resident of Ozone Park and the proud daughter of two working-class immigrants, she is the first in her family to earn both a high school diploma and an undergraduate degree. Felicia’s career in community advocacy includes two years of volunteer service in China with the Peace Corps, spearheading voter registration drives and community service projects with the Ozone Park Civic Association, and serving as Queens’ borough director of Amplify Her. Felicia was elected to serve as a member of Assembly District 23’s County Committee, and in 2020, she served as a member of the Southeast Queens Complete Count Committee, where she worked alongside local leaders and the U.S. Census Bureau to ensure communities like Council District 32 were fully counted and allocated sufficient funding. She is running on a platform that centers education equity and environmental justice in her home district and throughout the five boroughs. Learn more about Felicia Singh at felicia2021.com.
