Since the time of Cleisthenes and Pericles freedom has been the aspirational force behind the formation of democracies around the world. However, as history has shown the path to securing individual freedoms often comes at a high cost. As we enter year 3 of the war on Covid with a new variant and record case counts the tension between individual rights and the social contract is becoming impossible to ignore.
In this episode of Awake In Relationship I speak with Hon. Brian Peckford, former Premier of Newfoundland Labrador (1979 - 1989) and last living architect of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, about the history of the Charter and its significance in the era of Covid.
