Sounds Profitable

The pace of change the podcast industry is undergoing is staggering. The implications for podcasters, hosting providers, podcast listening app developers, and advertisers and agencies are enormous. And so is the growth potential. Presented as a companion to the weekly newsletter of the same name, our podcast provides you with direct access to our narrated articles, interviews with industry experts, bleeding-edge research, and can't miss industry news recaps. That Sounds Profitable, right? Assumptions and conventional wisdom will be challenged. Easy answers with no proof of efficacy will be exposed. Because the thinking that got podcast advertising close to a billion dollars annually will need to be drastically overhauled to bring in the tens or hundreds of billions of dollars podcast advertising deserves.

Two months into 2021, and we're still at home, but we know we're not the only ones. At least we
have streaming, food delivery, and podcasts (wink, wink) to keep us company. Speaking of
streaming...lately, our Friday nights have been spent watching 90's and early 00's re-runs.
That's why we're beyond excited for the return of Coming to America (available on Amazon
Prime March 5th). It's the best of both worlds - old-school nostalgia and new content for the
weekend.
To get us in a regal state of mind, Academy Award-Winning Costume Designer, Ruth E. Carter,
stopped by (virtually of course), to give Cori and Charli some tips, and share anecdotes about
her 30-plus year career, styling some of our favorite celebrities for the most iconic movies.
At Black Girl Magic headquarters, senior editors Cori Murray (@corimurray), Charli Penn
(@ManWifeDog) host ESSENCE's Yes, Girl! Podcast every Thursday. The award-nominated,
podcast fills your glass with celebrity interviews, pop culture and unapologetic perspective. From
week-to-week, they're uplifting everybody who’s taking Black culture a little higher.
