Episode 67: A Father Should Be

Well folks, if we haven’t already earned our place in hell, our conversation this week will definitely ensure that we get there…

It’s hard because Ba Nee, with her never ending thirst for a father, is just so easy to make fun of. Almost every single one of her storylines (aside from the one where she has eyeball problems) has centred on her lack of having a father and how sad she is about that. This is to the annoyance of her fellow Starlight Girls (and us), which is why she has earned the title of “CEO of not having a father and being a bitch about it”.

In this week’s episode (and the last of the series), the patron saint of daddy issues, Christy Marx, is back to deliver what might be one of her finest pieces of writing. “A Father Should Be” is not only pro-father propaganda (papa-ganda?) brought to you by BIG DADDY, but it is also a fun romp about the traumas of not having a father, sprinkled with post-Vietnam PTSD nightmare sequences…to everyone’s delight!

There is so much to discuss with this episode (and believe me, we leave NO stone unturned), but I really want to highlight Jerrica/Jem’s continued lack of judgment. How do you just allow a random dude with gambling issues and who cannot be bothered to learn Ba Nee’s name to whisk her away as soon as he claims to be her father? Especially when he seems to only be interested in your money? I just…

Anyway, to all of you (or the zero of you) who have listened to us talk about this nonsense for the past 2 years, thank you for your support! We are sad to end this chapter, but excited for what’s to come in the future!

Until next time, stay outrageous!
