In this week's episode, 'The Gentle Yoga Warrior' shares her top tips on how to stop bullying oneself. By becoming the silent observer of our minds, and more present by making deep conscious breaths, we, at least, have a chance to tame our over-active minds.
"The other day while I was walking I suddenly realised that for the whole journey I had been really horrible to myself. If anyone were able to record my internal mental chatter, they would have heard me telling myself I wasn’t good enough and putting myself down. You name it, I had decided it was wrong with me that day! In short I was nagging myself to bits! What a bully!
The branch of compassion that I so abundantly extend to others was at that time cut off from my own need for understanding. Thankfully due to my conscious living techniques I eventually had enough discernment to see how cruel I was being to myself. I then mentally stepped back and started to fill my consciousness with kindness. I remembered all the positive things about myself and managed to hush my inner critic with love.
Awareness is always the key to change. By becoming the silent observer of our minds, and more present by making deep conscious breaths, we, at least, have a chance to tame our over-active minds."
