episode 62: Professional Boxing and Mental Skills with Emmet Brennan - Petey Performance Podcast #62

This episode of the podcast is a conversation with Irish Olympian and New-York-based boxer, Emmet Brennan.

We chatted about the boxing industry as a whole and where it finds itself at the moment, touching on promoters, Canelo vs Bivol, Taylor vs Serrano and the differences between pro boxing and the amateur level.

Emmet is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury, so we spoke about that, and his aspirations of boxing at the professional level very soon. We talked about the challenges he has been presented with in trying to transition into pro-boxing from amateur, as well as how the amateur sport has changed insurmountably since he began many years ago.

We spoke about the value of understanding S&C as an athlete, figuring out what works for your body, mental strength and his plan moving forward.

We also had time to touch on the support his family has given him over the years, especially during his Olympic cycle, and how he has looked to keep his focus, with a positive circle around him.

Emmet will hopefully be moving into professional boxing quite soon, and is currently looking for sponsors to help him on his journey. If you or anyone you know is interested, you can contact him over on his instagram @emmetbrennan
