LET US REASON TOGETHER. FINAL from RC Sproul's book, Saved From What? Chapter 8 PART 2 with Pastor William Shifflett SAVED FOR WHAT? Why has God saved you? How is God's love different from the love of those around us? Is everyone a child of God? If so, why are we killing our unborn if they are children of God?

To Live Is Christ, to Die Is Gain “We get all sorts of advice on how to live, but few lessons on how to die”. “We have a tendency to forget that the goal of our whole lives points beyond the grave”. “Our attitude is rarely that expressed by Paul when he wrote Phil. 1:19-24”. Paul seems to be torn between two things. What do these scriptures teach us? So we enter directly into His immediate presence?  Entering into the Presence of Christ The promise of entering into Christ’s presence came from Jesus Himself in John 14:1-4. Here the disciples were troubled and Jesus is comforting them. Why are the disciples troubled? Jesus continues with His comfort in John 14:25-28.  Adopted in Christ Pastor, what is the difference in being adopted in Christ and being born again? The Bible describes our adoption in Romans 8:14-18. Different Spirits?  The link between our adoption in Christ and our future blessedness in heaven is declared in 1 John 3:1-3 John says, “ Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us”. Most Christians know at least three Greek words used for love in the Bible; Eros, Phileo, & Agape. What kind of love is this?  Peace, Be Still Page 103-104, We don’t have a category for that kind of love.  The Astonishing Reality of Our Adoption “In our day, we have been told over and over that we are that we are God’s children.”  There are some that think everyone is a child of God. Was it like that in the first century? He talks about the son of Jonathan … pages 104-105.  God’s Immeasurable Love “The Father determined from the foundation of the world that His Son would “see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied” Isa. 53:11”  Strangers and Aliens in This World We are no longer strangers to God, but are now strangers to the world. But we still want the world to love us. We want approval and applause. Dr. Sproul writes, “If we are not willing to participate in the humiliation of Christ, we will never participate in the exaltation of Christ”  Pastor, first tell us what he means by this statement, and then tell us if you agree with it.   What Will We Be Like in Heaven? 1 John 3:2a Dreams about his dad.  We Shall See Him as He Is Dr. Sproul writes about the beatific vision, and says that he has never heard a sermon on the beatific vision. Pastor, tell us what the beatific vision is and have you ever preached a sermon on it? 1 John 3:2-3 page 112 God is Spirit, how can we see Him in His essence?  Seeing the pure Glory of God Are we going to be able to see Him because God will first purify us and glorify us, making it possible, or will the very sight of Him be the power that He uses to perfect us, and we are purified by the vision? We are saved by God, from God, for God.  A New Heaven and a New Earth. Rev. 21:1-7 No church or temple. Rev. 21:22-26  So Great a Salvation Rev. 22:1-5 then Heb. 2:3 Pastor could you sum up this book, Saved from What? By RC Sproul for us?  It is a salvation that is by God, from God, and for God, to whom belongs all the glory!
