READY TO BE REAL conversations : Who I am

'I’m Síle Seoige and thanks for checking out READY TO BE REAL.Before we get into the conversations, I thought I’d give a bit of background on who I am, and what I’ve done.Well I’m a Mom to a two year boy, I’m engaged and at forty, I’m in a pretty good place in my life and I know I have a lot to be thankful for.Of course, like many of us, I still get days where I can feel overwhelmed or stressed but I've learned better ways to cope with those bumps in the road.I grew up in the village of Spiddal in Connemara on the west coast of Ireland.I’m a native Irish speaker and I’ve spent the past twenty one years working in the media industry, primarily as a telly presenter.Other elements of my work life include being a wellness speaker in recent times which I really enjoy, a radio broadcaster, a voice over artist, an event MC, a writer and even as an occasional singer and actor. It’s a fairly eclectic mix and as lots of you will know, life as a freelancer is unpredictable; I’ve been hired and fired regularly.I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants and I’ve also eaten spuds sprouting a few legs when there was nothing else in the press and my wallet was empty. In 2011, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, an experience which ultimately was a gift in my life.I was lucky, my surgeries and treatment were a success and during that year, I was tested in many different ways; but through the process of healing, I rediscovered what was truly important in life and I let go of the stuff that wasn’t.I went on to study yoga and loved it, and I’m now a certified yoga teacher as well.I’m still working on myself every single day and I get that it’s a lifelong process but through it all, I’ve learned that nothing is permanent and life always has the capacity to change.READY TO BE REAL is my passion project and I really hope you find the upcoming conversations helpful.'
