"1. NATIONALIST, NOT UNIVERSALIST

• Reject a Christianity that privileges people groups based on race (as in apartheid and separate development) or by ethnicity and military occupation.
• Reject a Christianity that builds walls; that is xenophobic and Islamophobic, that expels refugees, migrants or supports ethnic cleansing in the name of ‘our people.’
• Reject a Christianity that promotes Christian Zionism, antisemitism or one that fuels the seeds of genocide.
• Reject a Christianity that sustains the war machine and promotes the right to arms in the name of national security.

2. DISCRIMINATORY, NOT INCLUSIVE

• Reject a Christianity that discriminates people based on their identity, race, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability; that prefers able-bodied people over physically disabled, that considers autistic, Down’s and palsied children or albinism as a curse of God.
• Reject a Christianity that is homophobic, condemning people for their sexual orientation; where heterosexual white men are ideal; where women and people of other identities are less than; where white privilege is seen as deserving merit in the face of systemic injustice.
• Reject an anti-feminist Christianity that actively subordinates women asserting authoritarian male headship and one that denies women leadership in churches.

3. PROSPERITY VS THE POOR

• Reject a Christianity that preaches prosperity theology; that makes the poor feel unworthy, that considers them lazy and unmotivated while setting up on a pedestal the wealthy as a sign of God’s blessing and favour.
• Reject a theology that promises supernatural healing, wealth and well-being as a transaction with God dependent on your faith level.
• Reject a seed-faith theology whose harvest builds lavish homes, buys luxury cars, funds private jets of preachers, televangelist marketers and builds glass cathedrals appealing to a cosy, middle-class faith.

4. LITERALIST NOT REASONABLE

• Reject a Christianity that is literalist; that believes the Bible is the actual written, words of God. ‘If the Bible says it, I believe it.’
• Reject a selective reading of the text to suit theologies of prejudice, fear and rules. Stay away from churches that do not encourage the critical study of the Bible; that ignores context, experience, tradition and reason.
• Reject a Christianity that introduces and defends injustice on a literal reading of the text as we had and continue to have in the slavery of Black and colonised peoples, subordination of women, exclusion of women in leadership, separate development and apartheid states, in the abusive rulership of the earth; in discriminatory theologies of homophobia, islamophobia; biblical Zionism and in the right to arms.
• Reject a Christianity that idolizes the Bible above the One of whom the Bible speaks of; that obsess with dissecting the text out of context and doing theology devoid of a spirit of love and grace which brings life and liberty — where the God of the Good News is lost in the text."
