episode 14: Movement and Fascia Health with Aline McCarthy

Aline McCarthy had struggled with scoliosis, chronic pain, and rheumatoid arthritis, being resigned to a regimen of pain medications when modern medicine wasn't helping anymore.  What she found was that a change of diet in order to heal her microbiome and gut health helped to heal her inflammation.  She became a Gyrotonic technique instructor in order to expand her fascia health treatments with her patients and today she shares her tips on how to battle inflammation in your body and fascia.

Aline's top 3 tips for creating personal, emotional, and financial wealth:

  1. Step out of your comfort zone.  You cannot grow if you keep playing small.
  2. Take action.  Don't keep your ideas and dreams just in your mind.
  3. Have no fear. Keep going and don't stop yourself.

Stress has a detrimental effect on overall health.  Too much cortisol in your system disrupts your microbiome, ruins your gut lining and the cartilage and connective tissues in your body, and disrupts the other hormones in your body.  The result is a cascade of different health problems.  In integrative nutritional coaching, we focus on the primary foods first, which aren't actually foods: relationships, sleep, and emotional wellness.  The secondary foods are the actual water and nutrition you take in, which can't be digested properly if the primary foods are out of balance.

Aline's daily meditation practice has helped relieve her stress significantly.  Knowing that a 20-minute meditation can basically make up for 3 hours of lost sleep has released a lot of tension around parenting and lack of sleep.
