Jenna Ricker is an American film director, writer, producer and member of the Director’s Guild of America.
Her first feature film, “Ben’s Plan,” a coming of age drama starring Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief, Pride) was made on a micro-budget, was awarded Best Drama at the AOF Festival, Distinguished Debut at the London Independent Film Festival, and Jenna was honored with the Mira Nair Award for Rising Female Filmmaker.
Originally from California, Jenna moved to New York to study acting at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. While volunteering as a script reader and working in a commercial production house, she began writing and directing theater.
Her very first screenplay, “The Garage,” was a quarterfinalist of the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship. “Security,” her first collaboration with Greg Stuhr, was selected for the IFP’s Emerging Narrative Program, and was a Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist.
Jenna most recently, co-wrote and directed her and Greg’s second collaboration together, “The American Side.”
Jenna was also honored to be invited alongside Debra Granik and Courtney Cox to participate on the ‘Women in the Director’s Chair’ panel at the Woodstock Film Festival.
Jenna is an amazingly talented storyteller, creative filmmaker and courageous cinematic trailblazer.
She is insightful, introspective, funny, warm, caring and inspirational to others who may also desire to tell stories using a larger platform. She is also a huge Sergio Leone fan (listen for the super interesting story) of how and why they named their production company, One Horse Shy Productions.
Jenna is the real deal and this is her True North Story®.
