  • Acast released its financial report for Q3/22. Revenue was SEK 321m ($29.8m), up 21% y-on-y, or 1.9% q-on-q. It claimed 1.3bn listens, with average revenue of SEK 0.24 per listen ($22 per thousand listens). It made a loss in the quarter of SEK65m ($6m), though improved its profit margin.
  • Audacy published its financial report for Q3/22. Digital, including podcasting, made $62m in the quarter: up 2% y-on-y, down 10% q-on-q. Total revenues declined 3.8% y-on-y. The company is threatened with stock market delisting; stock hit a record low of $0.27 yesterday.

  • Podtrac released its US podcast rankers for October. iHeartPodcasts remains #1 podcast publisher; Wondery remains #1 podcast sales network; The Daily remains #1 podcast by total audience. The ranker remains incomplete - measuring participating publishers only.
  • Veritone published its financial report for Q3/22. It made a loss of $5.7m.
  • WTHR reports on audiochuck, the podcast producer owned by Ashley Flowers. The company, based in Indianapolis, now has over thirty employees.
  • The Podcast Host is running the Indypod Census, which they call the first international exercise focusing exclusively on independent podcasters and their needs. You've until Dec 9 to fill it in; the results will be unveiled in an online summit on Jan 26. You can take part here.
  • Team Coco, the Conan O'Brien-led podcast network, is to launch a comedy channel on satellite radio service SiriusXM.

Both Jason (Calcanis) and (David) Sacks are working at Twitter now.

  • It’s Not Only Football: Friday Night Lights and Beyond is new from Podcast One, with original “Friday Night Lights” cast members Zach Gilford, Scott Porter and self-proclaimed “Friday Night Lights” superfan Mae Whitman. It will debut tomorrow.
  • A new season of Crooked City: The Emerald Triangle launched this week. follows journalist Sam Anderson's quest to uncover the truth when he learns that one of his former schoolmates has been accused of murder. Sam travels to an area of northern California known as the Emerald Triangle – where most of the USA's homegrown marijuana comes from – and soon learns that its promises of freedom, money and an alternative way of living aren't as idyllic as they seem. It's from Novel, truth.media and Sony Music Entertainment.
