episode 3: PART FOUR of 4 - Perseverance - Chapter 16 - The Christian Life by Sinclair B. Ferguson

PART FOUR of 4 - Perseverance - Chapter 16 - The Christian Life by Sinclair B. Ferguson with Pastor William Shifflett.

1. The Word of God.

Psalm 119:11 - I have stored up your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Is there a neglect of the Word of God in the present day Church?

2 Peter 1:4 - by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

Luke 22:61 - And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”

Luke 22:32 - but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

2. Obedience to duties.

2 Samuel 11:1 - In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.  Is there a sense of duty in the present day Church?

3. Christian fellowship.

“The illustration of a live coal”

Worshiping, praying, witnessing with others, having social interaction on mental and spiritual levels, in the gifts of God’s grace. What have we learned concerning social interaction from covid lockdowns?

“Our spiritual progress depends in measure on our being able to minister to others, and our receiving ministry from others.”

“We are members of a body and a body moves, lives, and grows together.”

Next chapter - Asleep in Christ.
