Madh Island, a small fishing village on the outskirts of Mumbai. These recordings are from a Roman Catholic service here for the Nativity of Mary, a nine day celebration. The singing is in Marathi language. Koli music, dance and dress is a culture that evolved from fishing communities in the Maharashtrian region of India.
