We share African and Caribbean folktales for the enjoyment of those young and young at heart, both at "home" and living in the African/Caribbean diaspora. Stories are retold by our storyteller Kesha Christie, the founder of Talkin' Tales. Our culture has a rich oral tradition and we seek to preserve it by educating and entertaining audiences with stories passed down from generation to generation.

In this episode we celebrate St. Lucia Independence day.  41 year of independence.

St. Lucia is part of the lesser Antilles and is located northeast of the island of St. Vincent.  The culture is a blend of African, French and English heritage.

The language spoken is St. Lucia is St. Lucian Creole French.

Their national dish is called green figs & saltfish aka green bananas and salted cod.

St. Lucia is known for its majestic Piton Mountains, drive-in volcano, waterfalls, spectacular trails , beaches local street parties and more.
