My journey as the 49ers Fangirl began on January 14, 1990. It was on that day that as a young girl, I traveled to San Francisco with my family for the 1989 NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. A native Angeleno, I was rooting for the Rams. Then at some point, in the middle of the second quarter, I turned to my mom and said, “I love Joe Montana.” And that was it. I became a die-hard, gold-blooded Niner Faithful and never looked back. Tracy Sandler and San Francisco 49ers and 49ers Fan GirlAs a teenage girl, I watched every game, dressed in good luck outfits on game days – even if those days were Monday and I had school, educated my teenage girlfriends about Steve Young and Elvis Grbac, while discussing Tom Rathman, Jerry Rice, and Ricky Watters with my teenage guy friends. I cried when the Niners lost to the Giants in the 1990 NFC Championship game – damn Matt Bahr field goal! Instead of a Sweet 16, I went to Dallas for the NFC Championship game, which did not turn out nearly as well as the Rams game...

[Podcast EP #16] Ch-Ch-Changes Ahead for the 49ers - with special guest Matt Maiocco

You win some. You lose some. In the case of the San Francisco 49ers, they just keep losing, and in ugly fashion. Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals was no exception, with the 49ers losing 24-10, and frankly, it was never really that close. So the beat goes on for the 4-10 Niners, as they play their final two games against the Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams, on the road and at home, respectively. It’s abundantly clear that changes need to be made with all aspects of this team, starting with the coaching staff. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/socalisteph) and I were joined by CSNBayArea.com’s Matt Maiocco (http://www.twitter.com/MaioccoCSN) to talk about the state of the 49ers and where they go from here. We covered a wide range of topics, including: - Who the 49ers miss most from Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff - Who is most likely to be the new 49ers’ offensive coordinator, should Geep Chryst be fired - Whether or not the Niners should use a high draft pick on a quarterback - And what our predictions are for their final record. Thanks for listening, and please let us know your thoughts. Go Niners!
