My journey as the 49ers Fangirl began on January 14, 1990. It was on that day that as a young girl, I traveled to San Francisco with my family for the 1989 NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. A native Angeleno, I was rooting for the Rams. Then at some point, in the middle of the second quarter, I turned to my mom and said, “I love Joe Montana.” And that was it. I became a die-hard, gold-blooded Niner Faithful and never looked back. I cried when the Niners lost to the Giants in the 1990 NFC Championship game – damn Matt Bahr field goal! Instead of a Sweet 16, I went to Dallas for the NFC Championship game, which did not turn out nearly as well as the Rams game...

After another loss and falling to 2-6, it looks like the San Francisco 49ers realize they’re in rebuilding mode, as they traded TE Vernon Davis and a 2016 7th-round pick to the Denver Broncos for a 6th-round draft pick in 2016 and a 6th in 2017. Although this is sad and signals the end of an era, the trade was not a surprise and makes sense in the long run for all parties. So now the 49ers’ offense moves on and continues to try to find its way in the world, or at least on the football field.
