I Read Comic Books

This week’s episode is a very special one! Mike is joined by two of our regular folks, Tia and Paul, and special guest: Megan Rae! In this week’s episode, we discuss how to write (and discuss) comic books, what we can do to become better at this, and how we can make comics a better place (by fixing them!).

This week, Mike is joined by Tia and Nick to talk about horror comics. What makes these books work? What makes these books actually scary? (We did a previous episode sort of about this topic)

Mike was off at NYCC this week (with Tia and Kara!), so Kate is at the helm with Brian and Nick in tow. The show this week is all about the pride and shame of everyone’s collection… and, boy, is there Shame.

Mike and Kara focus on Archie Comics again… but there’s so much more than just Archie and the gang! Resident Archie-expert Kara gives Mike a lot (maybe too much?) food for thought on what ELSE exists in the Archie universe! Plus, find out the origins of some of the crazy little references in the Riverdale TV series.

This week, Kara and Rene join Mike to discuss comics and underwear, but really: What it means to be that comic book friend among your group of peers. How do you recommend comics to folks who you know won’t read them? And what do you do to share your interest without being overbearing?

Mike is joined by Paul and Brian to discuss our Goodreads Book of the Month: Fatale Volume 1 by Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Dave Stewart. We discover Paul may have worked at a record shop with a fight club in the basement and that Fatale is a pretty solid mix of noir, creepy, and wonderful colors.

This week we dive in to discussing the unsung heroes of comics: Letters, Editors, Flatters, Colorists, Inkers, and more!
