This isn't the return you were looking for. Instead of the usual fare, David spends the episode catching everyone up to speed (rather clumsily, he might add) regarding the birth of his daughter and the ordeal he and his family have gone through in the NICU. The story is not without hope, though. Jesus is on the throne, forever and always. Thank you for your prayers and support. Truly.
Joining the "apostles" this week is Jack, known in the Twittersphere as @GMANonScified (or the guy with Glenn wearing sunglasses as his avatar), and they get into the nitty gritty of this classic Godzilla film. Discussing just war theory, sex, and everything in between, they laugh. They cry. They might even have the best idea for Godzilla vs. Kong's plot. It's not too late, Adam! Do a few more reshoots!
Joining us on this episode of Building a Bridge is Jonathan Lee. If you've ever gone to G-Fest and wondered how the actors/actresses get connected with the convention? Chances are, at one point, he's the one who did the heavy lifting! Join us as we discuss his history of loving Godzilla and how that translates to being a part of the fandom. Once you're done, make sure to give him a follow on Instagram at @mrkrupp.
What happens when you mix aliens, assassins, a future Bond girl, and talking monsters? Apparently this film! More technical difficulties and a sore throat don't keep David and Chris from digging into Ghidorah, however, and what they find...well, it might surprise you, it might not. We're not ComicBook.com or Buzzfeed. That clickbait nonsense is so 2010.
Let's be honest, everyone. Mothra vs. Godzilla is a classic. But ever since someone pointed out that's KingGoji on the poster, we haven't been able to think about anything else. Joining the guys this episode, however, is Benjamin Chaffins (@thebigbadben90 on Twitter). Hijinks ensue. Some slight censoring of language. Oh, and Chris finally gets a movie date right! (Kinda.)
On this episode of Building a Bridge, Lisa Naffziger joins the podcast to discuss her love of all-things kaiju and how that translates into her artwork. It's one you won't want to miss! Make sure to check out her work at http://rugops.tumblr.com, or on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook @lisanaffziger.
Join Chris and David under the sea as they voyage into uncharted territories: a kaiju film with the least amount of monster action to date! Will they be able to weather this storm, or will they find themselves sinking under the weight of Honda's political message? ("Someone, please take away David's administrative privileges. We need someone else coming up with these descriptions," he writes in the third person.)
Thanks to Henry and his "White Behemoth" gift, Chris and David visit the year 1980 to witness the genius that is GAMERA: SUPER MONSTER! And by genius, we mean, one of the worst films we've had to sit through in a very long time. But this was also the first time the two hosts had ever met (after seven years of friendship!), so needless to say, it's a fun time...
Changing things up a bit, the "Building a Bridge" series will showcase different people in the Godzilla fandom and feature not only their thoughts about the franchise, but also their thoughts about the community and what we can be doing to encourage and uplift one another. This episode, David interviews Unite_Godzilla_Fans (not his legal name), and...well, you'll have to just listen to find out what happens!
Joining the podcast is the one...the only...Henry the Host, from It Came from a Monster Movie! And we talk about the Toho psychological horror, MATANGO! Despite being plagued with technical and editing issues (thanks, Zencastr!), they managed to "Take Three" this bad boy, and it's a mush-listen on all of your portabella podcast devices. Oh, and here's a fun-guy joke for you...
