219: Building Django Apps & SaaS Pegasus - Cory Zue
    April 24, 2024 (duration 49m)
    [transcript]
25:47 And then there's a I have a, like, a Docker Compose file that is on my GitHub that I can share with you, and that will run Postgres and Redis. And then you can Yes. Your your Django app to to run against those. 00:00 Today on Python test, I have asked Cory Zhu to be on the show, and, I'm excite I'm super excited, actually. I'm, like, totally stoked because, Corey has done he's a Django, like, guru and has done a project called SaaS Pegasus. Hopefully I'm hoping that SASPegasus will help me get a SAS project off the ground. So, we're gonna talk some Django. Thank you, Corey, for being on the show. 35:45 Like, tail end is, like, you should never have a class for, like, a card or, you know, a button, And instead, you should have, like, 20 classes that say, like, prime text color red, you know, margin 2 REMS, padding this much, shadow this much. So, like like, literally, like, a button in tail end will often have, like, these, like, you know, I'm not even exaggerating, maybe, like, 20 class names, which sounds crazy and and is often very jarring for people who who start development. It is somewhat mitigated by a library called Daisy UI, which Pegasus uses, which Daisy UI is kind of like a bridge between tailwind and bootstrap. And so Daisy UI will actually provide a button class and, like, a primary button and a error button and whatever. And behind the scenes, it it just maps that to, like, you know, the 20 tailwind classes that you would want.

[from title] Ep. 571 w/ Will Robinson CEO at Encapture
[from itunes:title] Ep. 571 w/ Will Robinson CEO at Encapture
    [transcript]
00:34 Welcome back to the show. Today, we have Will Robinson. He's the CEO at Encapture. Will, welcome to the show. 46:06 So how will we close with mentioning where people can get more information about yourself, the company, and any other links, and maybe mention the nonprofit as well so people can check that out? 17:27 How much do they have in their bank account? What are the debits and credits in in that account that, you know, a bank will use or a lender will use to kind of determine your income? So it's pulling all these key pieces of data, and that's really what we've evolved to. And that's where there's a ton of efficiency gains that these lenders have because they don't have to do that, sit there and do it manually.

Ep. 570 w/ Rob Greig CEO Cornucopias Game
    April 23, 2024 (duration 50m)
    [transcript]
35:25 Now Solace will be built, will will contain 3 large worlds. So Solace 1, 2, and 3. All three of those will be 8 kilometers by 8 kilometers. Solis 1 is now complete in terms of artwork, land plots, number of passes, and we're just going through the the final QA soon. So pretty soon, we will we will release Solis 1 to our testers. 49:51 That this our Discord is is the first place to go on to our website, find our Discord, go and say hello, and you will meet the the friendliest people in Discord that will that will help you. They will show you around the game. They'll talk about NFTs. They'll explain everything from you. And then in the future, you know, Conocoapius will be free to play. 25:43 So it's it's very, very symbiotic. So so we will we obviously will will have vehicles that that we will sell. You know, so that will raise revenue for you for the game. But the whole game is player driven economy. So so as players come into the game and they own the land and they're farming, they're earning, in internal virtual currency, which they will be able to then, craft other items, and those items, then they'll be able to craft into NFTs.

    Ep. 569 w/ Arie Trouw CEO/CTO/Co-Founder XYO
    April 23, 2024 (duration 51m)
    [transcript]
50:24 Yeah. That's actually really good advice. But how will we close the show with mentioning where people can get more information about yourself, XYO, and any other links you wanna mention? 10:32 I have to prove my statement to be true as opposed to you having to disprove it because a person will say something, you know, is that, you know, completely the world's flat. As I said, well, why do you say the world's flat? Well, you know, no one's ever proven to me it's not. But if if everything is true until proven false, that's not science. That's not scientific method. 39:33 That's actually really interesting. Yeah. I will say as, like, somebody that's been a designer basically my whole career, just the no code tools or low code tools have been an absolute game changer for me, right, where I don't even need really a developer now to build an MVP, maybe a crude V1 of something like an idea where before I could maybe struggle through it for months at a time, but it just you usually lose interest in the project before you launch, Right? Where now we're talking days or weeks. You can have something where it would take me years maybe to get some something up, right, in kinda my spare time.

    Ep. 568 w/ Griffin Parry CEO/Founder at m3ter
    April 23, 2024 (duration 46m)
    [transcript]
15:59 will have a sales CRM and you will have a finance stack, which will include an invoicing system. And we don't want you to replace any of that. Okay. What what META does is integrate with it and makes it work as it needs to when you're doing usage based pricing. So the integration points are with those existing toolings and then with your production systems where the production system is about taking in product usage data and then you configure this and meet it. 41:28 And then they deliver those recommendations on a PowerPoint slide. Now, those businesses make lots of money, like, and I have huge respect for them. And what META will be doing, we'll be automating some of that process. And so, you know, hopefully will be seen as a fantastic enabling tool for really good pricing consultants because we're doing a lot of what they would need to do themselves. So, yeah. 15:49 Well, we would assume that you again, remembering that we tend we tend to focus on those slightly more mature, more complex businesses. You will have established tooling in your quote to cash stack.
