On Friday's Morning Focus, Alan was joined live in studio by John Conroy who is preparing to set off on a volunteering trip to Uganda in the summer months of July and August 2023. John discussed his close link with Uganda through a couple of GP's living locally, who set up Hospice Jinja in Uganda in the year 2004. He described the work of Hospice Jinja who treat cancer and HIV patients. He also highlighted the work of the softpower charity who are involved in improving the quality of children's lives in Uganda through education. John also complimented the work of Shannon Airport in assisting the charity to help build a sensory room for the children and looked ahead to the upcoming 5km walk/run taking place in Barefield on Friday 14th of April. Any donations for the fundraiser will go towards the softpower charity.
