Clare’s Fianna Fáíl TD has described the amount of young people in nursing homes in Ireland is a damming indictment of the country. It comes on the back of a demonstration held by the Clare Leader Forum yesterday afternoon calling for personal assistance service legislation to be enshrined in Irish law as a matter of urgency. A recent freedom of information request carried out by the Disabilities Federation Of Ireland found that last month 1,200 people under the age of 65 were living in nursing homes nationwide. Meelick-based deputy Cathal Crowe believes the government has more stepping up to do to resolve the issue.
